Indeed over 70% of their collection is made from organic cotton. And now they are working with TENCEL™ Modal. Another innovative fabric where the perks of this fabric go beyond it's soft and silky feel.

TENCEL™ Modal is produced in Europe and requires much less use of water and land area compared to cotton and viscose. The modal fibers are manufactured using certified wood from spruce and beech trees, making them 100% biodegradable. The benefits of this amazing fabric are clear & it is the aim if Mini Rodini to increase the use of TENCEL™ Modal in their collections, as it not only has an amazing hand-feel but most importantly holds great environmental benefits. Basically it's a more environmentally friendly version of viscose, which is made from natural raw materials derived from e.g. eucalyptus-, spruce- and beech wood. Which type of wood that is used depends on where the production facility is located. The material is biodegradable and it is produced through a unique closed-loop system, making sure that you can reuse 99% of the chemicals and that no discharge leaks into nature. Even if looking at the whole production cycle, Tencel/Lyocell requires fewer chemicals compared to cotton, and it uses less water and smaller areas of land compared to both cotton and Modal. Also, Tencel/Lyocell is stronger and more stretchable than both other materials.

Mini Rodini are always asking their suppliers to push boundaries & look at ways where manufacturing can actually help the environment & solve issues around our polluted oceans. Each year 600,000 metric tons of fishnets end up in the world’s oceans, trapping dolphins, seals, and smaller fish. These abandoned nets drift with the strong currents and scrape the bottom surface, destroying the coral reefs that are essential to the survival and health of both the world’s oceans and human beings. Mini Rodini have used the discarded plastic found in our oceans to create a product is called from ECONYL®. This innovation is made from 78% recycled polyamide, which has the same properties and quality as the virgin fibre. The yarn is manufactured by using mostly residual fishnets, old carpets, and production waste. Essentially, making the product part of the process that helps clean up the world’s oceans.

This fabric is GRS certified which ensures that it consists of recycled materials made from, for example, PET soda bottles, discarded fishnets and used clothes. Since Mini Rodini are working with products that are mainly used by children, the control of chemical use is of the utmost importance to us. GRS is the strictest certification for recycled material on the market today and includes rigid controls of especially chemical use and tracking, but also working conditions.
