Slow Fashion | Saving Money & Protecting the Planet

Slow Fashion | Saving Money & Protecting the Planet

February 17th, 2021 | Mark Food

In the UK around 350,000 tonnes of clothes worth around £140 million go to landfill every year. Parents will know that nobody goes through clothes like growing children, whether because they grow out of them, wear them out or simply decide that they are no longer prepared to wear anything with mystical unicorns when last week that was all that they would wear.

What if you could do something about this? What if you could keep some of that money in your pocket while making a better world for your children to grow up in? And do it while your children wear organic clothing that look and feel great, and that they will love wearing?

By buying sustainable, quality and organic clothing for our children from responsible suppliers we help not only them, ourselves, and the planet, but also those in the supply chain working hard to try and support their own families, just like you do. Is it so unreasonable to ask people to pay a fair price for a quality, organic product so that everyone involved in making and selling it is paid fairly?

Buying cheap, fast fashion is often a false economy - I think most of us know that deep down! Your child wears that cool, cheap T-shirt a couple of times, then you are forced to ditch it after it shows the strain of a few spins in the washing machine or a seam starts to split or tear from the slightest abrasion. Wouldn’t it be nice if most of your child’s organic cotton clothes lasted so well that when they grow out of them, they can be passed on to younger siblings, friends, or family, or even sold on?

Organic cotton hugely reduces the use of energy, water and chemicals in the production process as well as being much kinder to your children’s skin. Did you know that cotton seed oil is used in many foods and animal feed, so by insisting on organic cotton in your clothes you are also helping more organic food to be produced?

Brands like Mini Rodini are leading the way in this much needed change. As they say, “We alone can’t do everything, but everyone can do something.” By buying from a brand that pays its workers fairly and uses organic cotton you are making lots of positive differences in just one step as well as getting great clothes that you and your children will adore!

Bobo Chooses is another pioneering brand that keeps their products on trend while helping suppliers, customers, and the planet all at the same time. Their aim is to put a smile on the earth’s face, and their organic clothing will put smiles on the faces of you and your children, not to mention the benefits to your wallet of buying a quality product that will stand up the wear and tear of modern life.

We can all make a difference by playing our part, and our children can look and feel great while we do it!
