Match 25th, 2021 | Mark Food

You want to protect your children’s feet.

You want to give them footwear that they will love to wear because it's so comfortable and super-cool looking.

You want to be kind to the planet and not have all sorts of nasties in contact with your children’s skin.

Too much to ask? Read on!

In the beautiful countryside of South-West France, in a small village between Montpellier and Toulouse, a footwear revolution has been quietly taking place for over 70 years. In 1947 Robert Guille and his brother Alain added a rubber sole to a warm, comfy sock, and created the slipper-sock. Robert formed the Collégien brand to manufacture these luxurious slippers and soon their products – clothes, socks and tights as well as slipper socks – were in all the top stores in Paris, and known for their irresistible combination of style and comfort.

Now under the leadership of Robert’s great-grandson Olivier, you and your children can have your own taste of stylish luxury from this classic French family firm, with the added assurance of organic cotton and ethical practices – what more could you want? The companies range of Collegien Slipper-Socks has been brought bang up to date and are the perfect solution for your little one’s growing feet. They have flexible, breathable, and non-slip rubber soles so they will protect little and not so little feet and help reduce slips and stumbles no matter what mischief they get up to around the house. Couple that with super cool designs that your children will love – robots, zebra stripes and camper vans as well as all sorts of great colours – your problem will not be getting your children to put them on, it will be persuading them to take them off at bedtime!

While your children are loving their trendy footwear, you can rest assured that you are doing the right thing for the planet. All Collégien products are completely made in France using methods passed down and refined by craftsmen for many years. The company is switching to 100% organic cotton and is even introducing new ranges of accessories made by upcycling defective items from their production runs to keep waste to an absolute minimum. Collégien slippers are made up of 82% pure Egyptian cotton combined with 16% Polyamide (stretchy stuff), 2% Lycra & 100% PVC Sole. That’s it. There is nothing else in them. They are soft, stretchy, non-slip and super comfortable. They are what you would make yourself for your children’s feet if you could.

Specialists recommend that children learning to walk wear soft-soled footwear as much as possible. They need to get used to feeling the ground under their feet and build muscle strength, while having their feet protected from injury and extreme temperatures. Collégien slippers fit this requirement to a tee. For older children, they are the perfect alternative to clomping round the house in their outdoor shoes or wearing ordinary sippers that slide off their feet at the first opportunity and are left scattered for you to pick up! Let’s face it, we are all spending a lot more time at home these days, so it makes sense to be comfortable while we are there.

Collégien slippers are perforated with a breathable sole, so the issue of sweaty and smelly feet will be kept to a minimum. Even better, when they do start to get grubby – and what do you children wear that does not need a wash after a while - you can put then straight in your washing machine at a planet friendly 30 degrees!

The range of colours and designs is enormous, so you are sure to be able to find something that will meet the requirements of even the fussiest dresser or the style king or queen in your life. To top things off, this luxury foot experience is not limited to your children! Collégien make their famous slipper-socks for mums and dads too, including a ballerina style complete with pompoms on the toes, so you can complete the family footwear look.

Made to last, knowing just how hard some children can be on footwear, these slippers really are great value and solve a multitude of problems in one fell swoop. We are proud to be the first and largest stockist in the UK.
